Facebook like keeps giving app_id error

Recommended Posts

Hi there, I am working on a blog (justbymanon.nl) and recently try to add the Facebook I like plugin. For this I used the "Facebook I like" plugin (http://www.ahmedgeek.com) after using another one which did not seem to work. I have this plugin activated & deactivated a couple of times (as well as full delete) because I get keeping the error when trying to press the I like button on the website using another facebook-account. The error it currently states is that the app ID "xxxxxx" which is included in the "fb:app_id" metatag, is not valid. I already spent a lot of hours on this, but (a) I can not find the metatag on the blog which includes that ID number (which is probably not correct), (B) I have a problem with the facebook account and can not get app_id on the screen through the developer app (for some reason it is not working). I already included some metatag info on in the "header.php" file which defines the fb_admin number next to the name of the website (I found this somewhere on the facebook developer site, however I have very limited experience with Wordpress). Still the I like button does not work. Does somebody have any ideas how I could solve this? Thanks. Martijn Fyi: I currently have the plugin deactivated because it does not work.

Does your plugin work if you switch to a different theme?

Good question; haven't tried that. Can I do that easily without messing up my current website? Isn't there another way to check this?

Actually, that plugin is deprecated. The versions offered on http://www.ahmedgeek.com/category/products/ date to 2010 and are too old to work in WordPress 3.2.1 or later. You should go to http://www.wordpress.org/extend/plugins Look for Most Recent with plugins like this http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/be-it-facebook-sidetab/. Note that on the right side, it says which WordPress version it is compatible to (3.3.1). Also make sure there are few complaints and that no-one has cited the plugin as broken. This way you do not have to waste your time with broken plugins.
