Add image in header in Framework

Recommended Posts

Guest richardjacruz@comcast.net

I want to add an image above the social media buttons on the following page: http://blog.botanicchoice.com I see all kinds of posts about hooks, but I don't know how to use them, the YouTube video wasn't working for me, and most of the documentation talks about using the child them "Base". I need to know where to go and what code to add to put the following pic: http://blog.botanicchoice.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/BotanicChoicebloglink.png to link to href="http://www.botanicchoice.com" target="_blank" Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Rich

Hi, here is how you would use a hook that would insert that pretty close to where you want it. Once its there, you may need to use a little CSS to position it correctly. Post back here if you need help with that: First, in your theme backend, navigate to Pagelines -> Store -> Plugins -> Top Free -> Pagelines Customize and install that. At this point you will have a new plugin folder in plugins/pagelines-customize that has a functions.php and style.css. You can use both of these files to customize your site. Now you will add your hook to pagelines-customize/functions.php. You will need to connect to your site with an FTP program to download and edit the file. Once you've done that paste this code into the file:
add_action('pagelines_before_branding_icons','custom_link'); function custom_link(){ ?>

Vanilla seems to have added an extra semicolon just before the alt="" and also before target="_blank" You will want to remove that.

Thanks a million, kastelic! I actually was able to edit the file by going to Plugins>Edit>PageLines Customize (from dropdown menu)>pagelines-customize/functions.php Worked beautifully. Now I need to position it to the right side.

It looks like you added some inline CSS to it, so something like this should help: margin-right: -10px; The more negative the number, the further to the right it goes.

I also wanted to put an additional image in the header so I followed this advice, and advice culled from another another thread, but the result for both you and me could hardly be called a "responsive" solution. Mine ends up looking this this (on a small screen)... http://blog.botanicchoice.com is even worse (the main logo shrinks to mere pixels!) I raised this issue here: http://www.pagelines.com/forum/discussion/comment/92437 @arpowers provided the hint of a "solution" ... http://www.pagelines.com/forum/discussion/comment/92432#Comment_92432 Is there someone in the community that can help those of us who want more in the header than just default Pagelines "logo and social icons", and STILL have a Responsive site?

Hi Kastelic, Thanks for all the help you've posted here. Managed to get my image onto the page by inserting that hook. But where do I stick the inline css to move it to the right? Also in that file? Plugins>Edit>PageLines Customize (from dropdown menu)>pagelines-customize/functions.php My site is www.zenonline.com.au although I've removed the image I'm trying to stick up there for the time being. Love how it looks for http://blog.botanicchoice.com and would like something similar

The CSS goes into the Plugins > Edit > Pagelines Customize plugin also found in the pagelines-customize/style.css.
