wpnew 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2011 Hi, I normally use a forum only if I can't figure out how to do it myself... So here I am. Question: How do I create multiple category templates (Different category layouts for different categories)? I'm a Framework 1.0 or whatever developer license customer... debating about upgrading. Not sure. Have been playing with the demos at length. Eh.
Rob 547 Report post Posted December 22, 2011 Surprisingly, this is relatively easy, whether in PlatformPro or PageLines Framework (2.0). It boils down to creating a page for your individual categories, installing Special Recent Posts - a plugin, then applying shortcode to the page and the template of your choice. So, for Category 1 you might have boxes; Category 2, a slider and boxes; Category 3 a Highlight, etc. Special Recent Posts allows you to emulate the blog list by including a number of posts with thumbnail, title, date, author, excerpt, link or anything normal at your choice. Don't want the date and author, just leave it out of the shortcode. If you want multiple categories on one page, no problem. Copy the shortcode and edit it to the subcategories. You can customize the category page in other ways, as you wish. Former PageLines Moderator, Food Expert and Raconteur
