Askimet. You may have to pay $5 a month but it does exactly what it says it will. Literally zero spam when its enabled.

If it's just a personal site, Askimet can be free if you decide not to donate any money (they have a sliding scale). But all that time not sorting through spam must be worth something.

I'd also recommend switching from the default WP comments to Disqus, which works with Akismet to provide better formatting and comment management. It's a plugin available through [url="http://www.wordpress.org/extend/plugins"]wordpress.org/extend/plugins[/url]
