Meta tags

Dear supporters, I'm not sure where to put my meta tags....is it in the index file ? Regards

The answer is you don't. Meta tags in Wordpress are dynamically written from a variety of sources. Adding them manually is old-style HTML coding which isn't necessary. They come into Wordpress from a variety of sources. For example, the Dashboard > Settings > General page has some including the title and your basic description. Plugins add more, and each post has keywords you add that are post specific so people can find the post. Search Engine Optimization plugins also help make the site and posts/pages more findable in the search engines. There are plugins such as http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/simple-meta-tags/ to add tags. However, the best policy is simply to use descriptive excerpts and put in applicable keywords to each post. I followed that philosophy on my site and went from 300,000 page views a month to over 2Million in less than 3 months, without search engine optimization.
