Excluding Specific Categories From Homepage

Recommended Posts

Quick question: Is there a way -- perhaps a basic Custom CSS override -- to make it so that posts belonging to certain categories are not shown in the reverse chronological stream on my homepage? Thanks.

I don't think CSS would be the solution, but you can try this: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/advanced-category-excluder/

Please read the docs before posting. Please do not private message me unless I ask you to.

I use this custom functions.php on a Thesis site: // exclude category N from front page loop function limit_front_page() { global $query_string; if (is_home()) { query_posts($query_string.'cat=-1'); } } add_action('thesis_hook_before_content', 'limit_front_page'); Perhaps changing the Thesis hook with the hook pagelines_before_content you can use it here.

Yes, query_posts() would be the way to go. If you run into weird errors, you may need to reset the query. Info can be found here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/query_posts
