Remove the sub category from the URL

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am wondering if it is possible to remove the category from the URL and only show the %postname% ? I have set the Permalink Settings to /%postname%/ but i still have the upper category of a post in the URL. For example i would like this URL http://www.example.com/aktien/aktie-und-aktienkurs/ to be http://www.example.com/aktie-und-aktienkurs/ Thanks for feedback, boga

Look at the base URL in Settings > General. See if the category is located there. Also, Make sure the Permalink settings have been changed in your .htaccess file. To do this, FTP or Telnet into your site and CHMOD the .htaccess file to 777. When you update Permalinks, if your .htaccess file is not open to change, then the Permalinks page will give you the changes you need to add manually. Most people don't see this. You need to scroll down. If the file is CHMODed to 777, then WP will make the permalink change automatically for you.

hmm, i'm needing to do this too, and the following has worked on all my non-pagelines sites so far: add ./ to Permalink Settings | Optional | Category base doesn't seem to work in pagelines. what's the .htaccess code to add?

Dainis, When you make the changes to permalinks, do you CHMOD .htaccess to 777 temporarily beforehand?
