How to install PlatformPro to work with WhitehousePro

Recommended Posts

john_douglas

Hi there, I purchased WhiteHousePro and PlatformPro yesterday and cannot find any docs on how to integrate the two. The docs for PlatformPro describe installing the childbase theme (which I have) and this all works. If I then install WhiteHousePro there is no integration with the template editing features of PlatformPro. I tried editing the style.css document in the WhiteHousePro theme to make it a child of PlatformPro, but this simply generated tens of php errors and forced me to re-install Wordpress. I haven't done any dev work yet, so nothing lost (except time), but this very frustrating. Your docs appear to refer to older versions of the software (the videos certainly do) and only cover installation of one product or the other and not both working together. Have I missed something? Please help! Kind regards, John.

John, At present, WhiteHousePro is a standalone theme, while PlatformPro is a platform intended to work with child themes you can create. It comes with PlatformBase, its default child theme from which you may customize your site. Presently, we're developing PageLines 2.0, a new product that will eventually have a WhiteHousePro child theme. However, it's not in development yet. Where did you read that WhiteHousePro is a child theme? Unfortunately, being a full theme you cannot use it as a child for PlatformPro. Meanwhile, depending on your needs, you can write to [email protected] to discuss your extra purchase.

Thank you for your reply. Whilst I didn't read anything specifically which said that WHP is a child theme, the overall tone of the docs infers this (see Docs | Getting started | Theme installation) where directly after the video to install PFP there is a video on installing WHP. These to me say: "install the platform and then install your theme and use the platform to customise it". Having installed WHP, I clicked on the internal link within WordPress to view the docs where it presented me with a series of options that I didn't have (I later determined these were in PFP) and despite a thorough search I didn't see anything that made it clear there is no connection between the two products. If you look at the graphics on the main page of your website, do you not get the overall impression that the four themes are the customisable sub-portion of the PFP core? I certainly did. I think you need to do more to make it clear that these products do not work with each other at this point in time. I shall writre to the email address you mention to arrange a refund for my purchase of PFP, which is not required. Kind regards, John.
