Show category in Nav / Page

Is there a solution from w/in WHP for the blog-in-a-blog idea? Basically I want to create a couple pages that display certain categories. There are plugin solutions but those are then circumventing WHP's excerpt feature, which is nice.

There's a simple solution/trick to show anything you want as a main nav link, create a page as normal, anything you want it to be, then from your WordPress Admin, navigate to: Plugins > Add New and search "Redirection" and install and activate that plugin, then from it's settings you can redirect/forward any URL to any other URL, so you'd want to name a page: http://www.website.com/categoryname and have it forward to http://www.website.com/category/categoryname - make sure of course to check the actual URL of the category page you want to show. Not a bad solution. Won't work for me because I want to maintain the appearance of the page as a grandchild for user nav clarity. I guess you answered my question though. No built in support. I know this must be doable b/c Thesis did it. I'll keep searching. Otherwise, please keep suggestions coming! Ryan

Its probably not hard to implement. If its a truly useful feature we'll take a look at adding it. Basically you're looking to have pages that display a specific category or your main blog?

I need a lot but not sure if others do...basically I want to maintain nav sub structure but show catagories. I'm trying now to make it work w/a post/page combo. But it is a hassle and it's too involved for me (although I understand very easy). I have to hire it out. It's working great but something is wrong with the excerpt feature. I will start a new thread to address that.

Using my method, you'll still get the page links to show in the sub nav however you like. Outside of hiring a professional to reprogram your blog, I think it might be the best free solution. Thanks, Bryan
