feature slider on home page (blogs page)

Recommended Posts

Hi, is there a way to have a feature slider, boxes section AND latest posts on my home page? Ideally I want the content of these two pages combined to show on my home page: http://creativewebbiz.com/ http://creativewebbiz.com/home I tried to add features and boxes to my blogs pages but then they show up on all posts pages (archives etc.) But if I create a static home page, I don't see a way to add my latest blog posts. thanks

It's possible to add features and boxes to your posts pages and use PageLines Section Control to hide the features and boxes sections. If it is too much work, you can use a static page and paste a shortcode to a display the latest posts.

Please read the docs before posting. Please do not private message me unless I ask you to.

Hi Catrina, thanks for the help. The problem is there are no section controls for blogs pages like archives, category pages etc. So I don't see a way to hide anything on these pages. The shortcode solution sounds good, but where do I find these shortcodes? Are you talking about an extra plugin?

I was searching for a shortcode that was posted on this forum before but now I can't find it. I found this plugin, however: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/display-posts-shortcode/

Okay. I see your problem. There is a solution. You will need a static homepage and you can have everything you want there. Create a static page called "home" (no quotes). Leave it blank. Nothing in the edit field. Just the title. On the right side, where you see "Page Templates", select Feature Page from the list. Save it but do not make it the home page just yet. Install a plugin called "Mini Loops" http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/mini-loops/ and activate it. Change the settings as you wish. Copy the appropriate shortcode and return to your home page just created. Paste the shortcode. Save and test/view the page. See if your loop content shows up. You can now go to Dashboard > PlatformPro > Template Setup and select "Feature Page". Slide over from the right any additional component you wish such as boxes, carousel, sidebars, etc. Save the settings. Go back and view your page and see how it looks. If it's satisfactory, go to Dashboard > Settings > Reading and make the home page your Front page. If the Mini Loops plugin did not work, I'll suggest http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/tpg-get-posts/ in its place, though this doesn't include the featured image (thumbnail). Nonetheless, I've tested this and it does work well and can be customized easily.
