rpacker 19 Report post Posted October 25, 2011 I can't find anything in the documentation about the highlight section in Platform Pro. What does it do? How do you setup it up? Thanks, Randall Randall Packer Multimedia Artist & Educator http://www.randallpacker.com
Kate 3 Report post Posted October 25, 2011 It's basically what it sounds like: a section where you can "highlight" certain info. You can add text and/or an image. You can see it in use on the Demo: http://www.pagelines.com/demos/platformpro/layouts/full-width-page/ You don't have to hide the nav, that's just done for this example. Hope that helps! rpacker 19 Report post Posted October 25, 2011 Thanks so much. It seems that things are not always explained fully, for example, in the page you referenced, it doesn't say whether this is a highlight page or highlight section. Do you know? I believe I understand the concept of the highlight page, but not the highlight section. Or is there any difference? Sorry for my confusion... Rob 547 Report post Posted October 25, 2011 You know I'm still trying to figure that one out myself. I'll do some digging and find out. Former PageLines Moderator, Food Expert and Raconteur
rpacker 19 Report post Posted October 25, 2011 I have found that if you make a highlight page, it will show up as a highlight section. But it seems to make more sense to create any page and just put an image in the highlight metadata features. I think the nomenclature here is rather confusing. Danny+ 1,327 Report post Posted October 25, 2011 Hi Randall, Although I have never had any use of the hightlight section or hightlight template, it does have its uses and can look rather cool. I have added a few examples of the highlight section being used. http://www.pagelines.com/careers/ http://www.pagelines.com/careers/web-developer/ http://www.pagelines.com/careers/forum-support-moderator/ http://www.pagelines.com/careers/marketing-director/ http://www.pagelines.com/partners/ Its basically, a section/template of drawing the user to certain content, or highlighting certain content, that you want seen before anything else. rpacker 19 Report post Posted October 25, 2011 In these examples, is the content placed in the editor of the page? There is also an image placement and title in the Features metadata. I'm also trying to wrap my head around the function of the page vs. the section. I have found that just placing an image in the metadata shoves it right up against the header which looks really nice: http://www.thepostreality.com/test/highlight-page/ I am going for a minimalist aesthetic which is why I am using Pagelines, to deconstruct and have control over all the elements. Danny+ 1,327 Report post Posted October 25, 2011 Ok Randall, I've just been going over your site's code via Firebug and I noticed that you have a lot of strange things going on, you have css and javascript inside your body html. Would it be possible for you to do a few things for me: 1. Create a concept image of how exactly you would like your site to look, seeing as your going for a minimalist look. 2. Create a new test site, create an account for me with admin rights (send the details via PM). I will try to assist you anyway I can. Please search our forums, before posting!
