Easy way to place a banner in header on main page? Next to logo?

Hello, is there an easy way to accomplish this? Like in the below screenshot? http://thedollarmill.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/5.jpg Do you plan on supporting this feature out of the box for upcoming releases of platform?

Meh every time I hear about these hooks my head spins. But thanks anyways, sometime I will need to put my stuff together and learn that bit of php.
