Footer problem - full width

Recommended Posts

jordydme

Hi, For some reason my footer is now mysteriously extending the full width of the browser. I did not edit the footer file. I did update the theme and I think the problem surfaced after that but I am not sure. Currently the home page is using the "feature page - page content" template. When i switch to "full width page" the footer looks normal but when I go back to the template I am using ( "feature page - page content") the footer extends full with. here is the url: http://integralchiropracticny.com/ thanks

1. Were any plugins recently added or updated? Some plugins carry their own CSS and can cause conflicts with default files like footer.php or style.css. 2. Are any plugins in need of updating? Outdated plugins may cause this problem by creating a conflict with CSS. 3. Did you add any Custom CSS recently? Some CSS errors can cause this. 4. Did you make any adjustments or changes to the footer.php or any other files? Often there's a missing closing tag causing this sort of error.

I'm not sure what happened, but to fix it, add the following to your custom CSS:
#morefoot { margin: 0 auto; width: 960px; } #footer { margin: 0 auto; width: 960px; }
Thanks...funny I was just posting as you wrote. I came up with the same solution in firebug but when I add the following code to my cutsome css and save, nothing happens. The error stays the same: #morefoot { margin: 0 auto; width: 960px; } #footer { margin: 0 auto; width: 960px; } I have disabled all of the plugins so that's not the problem. I have not done any footer editing recently. Why can't I locate my custom css file in firebug?

Custom CSS is dynamic, recording the info in the DB, not really in a static file. It could be your canvas.

What does this mean? "It could be your canvas. "

Try using:
#morefoot { margin: 0 auto !important; width: 960px !important; } #footer { margin: 0 auto !important; width: 960px !important; }
The same, but with !important. Sometimes needed for changes to take affect.

I tried that too. Just like before, it fixes it in firebug but not when I save it to my custom code. But thanks for trying

The reason I think that the code provided by @Simple_Mama (which should work 100%) is due to the fact that you may have some kind of cache plugin, like minify or W3 Total Cache. If this is true, you need to deactive this plugin, then the code above should work.

Please search our forums, before posting!

nope don't have any cache plugins and as stated above, "I have disabled all of the plugins so that's not the problem. "...gotta get this straightened out already please. Also, I am not getting email updates for these responses you are giving me. I have all of the boxes checked for notifications in my forum preferences.

Have you used caching plugins in the past? (i.e. is one installed but inactive?). These plugins are nasty little devils that are still active even though they're deactivated.

Nope, no caching plugins. I was able to change the color of a font> save and then see the change, however the code that you and I both used in Firebug to correct the problem does not work when saved to my custom CSS. I would like to know why I even need to correct it in the first place. I did not do anything to the footer. Wierd.

Do you have any custom CSS for #page ? If so, please paste it here. Otherwise, try using the following custom CSS:
#page { margin: 0 auto; width: 960px; }
no custom code for #page. I pasted it, dumped my cache and still it did nothing. I checked it in Firebug and of course it fixed it. Obviously there is a problem here. Here is all of my custom code:
h1 { font-size: 42px; line-height: 1.2em; margin-bottom: 25px; color: #666; } #headerAddress { display:inline; margin-left:20px; } h2 { font-size: 20px; line-height: 1.4em; margin-bottom: 20px; color: #666; } h3, h4 { font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.4em; margin-bottom: 20px; color: #666; } /* added by Venturi Web custom image frame begin */ .left { float:left; } .right { float:right;
