humanv3 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2011 Hi there! So my client is a big social buff and needs to have a particular metabar. :S I need: Small avatar of the author, social buttons added to it as well. I could mess around with it if I knew where to find the metabar in the php page files. But I don't. I thought it was in single.php, but it wasn't Any help is, as always, appreciated. Jenny 33 Report post Posted October 14, 2011 Look through template.postloop.php. Also, make sure the child theme PlatformBase is your actiive theme (not PlatformPro). The social buttons, and possibly even the author avatar, can be added using plugins. Just search http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/ for something like "social share". You'll see several options. ♥ Jenny :: Web designer at Simple Mama (follow me at @simplemamacom) Check out Share Me, a social sharing add-on for DMS that is super simple to set up. humanv3 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2011 Plugins work well, but not if you want them placed specifically :P This is hard-code territory unfortunately... I haven't found a plugin that can replace the metabar or byline :( Thanks! I'll try it out.
humanv3 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2011 OK, I can't seem to find where to replace or add to the metabar on a single post page. It calls "pagelines_get_post_metabar", but I'd like to edit the actual metabar if possible...
Rob 547 Report post Posted October 14, 2011 The problem may simply be you're trying to achieve something that hasn't been developed yet by the plugin community or Wordpress developers. Even though the metabar is in Platform, its functionality is based on WP. We effectively only apply it and style it. When you think about it, the data it calls all comes from WP like User Name, categories, post date, etc. None of which is theme based. If this is "mission critical", you may simply have to hire a plugin developer, making sure he/she is only placing the social media icons in the meta for posts, not custom posts types or it will also show up in your boxes, feature slider or other components you may create. There are cheaper, more sensible alternatives, such as social icons that float on the side of your posts Former PageLines Moderator, Food Expert and Raconteur
humanv3 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2011 Believe me I wanted that ;) My client (the project manager) is using "his" favourite site as a basis for what he wants to see... welcome to our nightmare :D I've figured out a way around it since though, thanks!
