Combining PageLines with the functionality from PremiumPress

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am new to Wordpress customizations and I really love the Pagelines theme. It is very flexible and good to understand. I have been using it for a while and for one of my dutch sites I want to use the functionality from PremiumPress and have the useability from Pagelines. Unfortunately I have not found any good directory plugins so i tried DirectoryPress Which does what I need, but It is in no way as easy to use and customizable as Pagelines. Furthermore I want to have the directory have the same visual appeal as my site has. Can someone help me or tell me how best to achieve this?

Well, both of those are actually themes, not plugins ;) So, you'd have to search for a plugin that you could add to PlatformPro: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/

Actually, DirectoryPress is a script, not a theme and could work within the PlatformPro structure. However, according to what I'm reading on their site, they use considerable styling of their own and I'm confident that their code would cause problems. May I ask what kind of directory you're trying to create? A business directory? Links to various sites you like? There are other less intrusive and free plugins to do those things.

PS... Many years ago, I thought of creating a directory and search engine specifically for my site's core subject. I obtained a script, installed it, worked for months getting it going and one day it stopped working. The script provider simply went out of business and I ended up with nothing. Now that's bad enough, but the worst part is that my site was listed by some unknown entity as a search engine where people could add their links. 13 years later, that's still in search results and I am swamped daily with thousands of requests and get tons of junkmail. My advice, therefore, is to be very, very careful and to think long term when it comes to the directory concept. You won't receive links from normal companies, but from every illicit, illegal and improper site out there, all of which are spammers.

I want to thank you all for the help so and the suggestions you have sent me. At this moment i have a blog and a small webshop dedicated to a niche in what we can a "vereniging van eigenaren" which is related to the ownership of an appartment. With this blog and the shop and potentially the director I want to become the central point where appartment owners can ask questions, read articles, buy from my shop and have access to adresses from all the companies that might be of interest to them. Think of software companies, lawyers with a specialism in Appartment Law of services companies that can assist in the day to day activities. Both the blog and the shop are build with Pagelines. I bought the theme DirectoryPress hoping that i could adjust it but it might be to much. I want the features, or script that is available without the layout and make use of all the positive features from pagelines so that it will feel the same as the blog and the shop. However if you have any suggestions please help me out.

Of course, you are free to do whatever you like with your site. I just wanted to share the benefit of my own experience with you. There are many magnificent real property scripts in Wordpress that are already structured for apartment ownership listings but unlike DirectoryPress are not an open directory. If you are looking for a customization of PlatformPro to include DirectoryPress, you might consider the services of one of our Pros. http://www.pagelines.com/pros

Hi Rangelone, Thank you for your reply. Is this something you can do and how much effort would be needed to include DirectoryPress, just to get an idea of the cost and determine if this would be worth the effort from the PageLine Pros

I personally couldn't do it, but you should ask the Pros for a quote. Unfortunately, I don't know the plugin well and haven't the time to build websites for others. I'm sorry, though I'm sure you understand.
