Help! Site won't load after changes!!

Recommended Posts

This is quite urgent so appreciate any help here! I made some changes to my header.php. Everything seemed fine but about half an hour later when uploading media my control panel stuck and I couldn't reload the website or the WP admin pages. I tried in multiple browsers where it had been working and no joy. I'm not sure if it's the changes I made as these seemed to work fine immediately afterword. When it stopped loading I was uploading media in the admin page. Hosting is new and freshly paid... perhaps this is the issue though?? Or is it the template? Or the changes? Any advice would be much appreciated! k8

Do you have a backup copy of EcoPro? If you can FTP into the site, try to replace the header.php with a copy fresh from the source. Check and see if the site works. If not then... Do you know what media you uploaded? Try to find the location and remove that media via FTP. Check and see if it works now. The theme header shouldn't crash WP. If it has an error in it, theoretically, it would crash the visible site, but not the backend. Can you call your host and have them check it? They might have had a problem or could have been updating something.

Hi Thank you so much! I'm not confident with HTML and I'd made some major changes in the stylesheet and thought I'd caused it. It turns out that the hosting provider's server crashed. All back online now. Thank you for your help and my apologies for premature panic! thank you!! k8

Premature panic is fine. It's the postmature stuff that worries me! Glad your site's up.
