Custom Javascript rollover navigation?

Recommended Posts

davestolte

Hello - Is there a way to add a custom Javascript navigation bar to the Header section? I have a certain way I want the navigation to look, basically PNGs with rollovers that will point to Wordpress categories. I thought I could do this with Javascript in a box like this: nav_basics_normal.png But that's not working. Caveat: I'm not a programmer, I'm a visual designer with only enough knowledge of code to make me dangerous. Thanks --

Dave, the way we generally are able to help diagnose or recommend things is to look at the site. Could you provide a link? Thanks. If all you're basically trying to achieve is adding a background image to the navigation (which is already a JS, we can handle that with CSS. There's no need to reinvent the wheel, much as the temptation seems to hit many.

Thanks, there's a page at http://www.homebarbasics.com/?p=22 I'm trying to get the nav bar looking like this: http://homebarbasics.com/stuff/nav.png I've tried putting the Javascript into a Box, a Banner, and a Feature - some will display the images and act as links, but none show the rollover graphic. If there's a way I can get the nav bar to look like the mockup without using Javascript, graphics, & rollovers, I'm all ears.

I have the basic appearance and functionality working now at http://www.homebarbasics.com/?p=22 - just two problems left to solve: 1. The rollovers aren't working 2. There's a large gap above & below the nav bar graphics. Is there a way to control the height of the banner?

Problem resolved - placing them in a banner works. And I'm adjusting the branding / header padding through custom code.
