Exporting large number of comments for Disqus.com import

Recommended Posts

mjsbigblog

Hi there, Moving comments from Wordpress to Disqus.com. There are about 1 million comments - as such disqus recommends that we export the comments and then upload/import into their system. However, the export contains url's that look like the below, and of course disqus really doesn't know what to do with these. Any tips/hints for migrating? Am I missing something in the Platform Pro settings? Do I need to disable platform pro before exporting so as to not run things through the framework? Thanks! Jacob, my suggestion is to write an email to the Disqus support folks who'll be very happy to help you. They're very good. While we recommend Disqus, and I use it, such a customization is best handled by them and beyond the scope of Platform Pro.

Hi there! Thanks for your tip. I've been in direct touch with Disqus quite a lot (since we're on a high paying plan, and their team is great) but they're befuddled by what is being exported from Wordpress. It looks like all Pagelines framework stuff. As such, this is why I'm back here. Do you think disabling platform pro completely before using the Wordpress export tool would have any impacts? Have you seen other users migrate large communities from Wordpress Comments on Platform Pro to disqus?

Actually, I've not seen this before. I wonder if Disqus has a means of grabbing the data from .SQL files. Via phpMyAdmin, it's possible to export comments, users and user meta data. I'm going to bump this to a developer as it's far more complex than I think should be handled in a forum setting.

Those are custom posts for features, boxes and banners. Safe to just ignore them, they dont have comments anyway.
