Embed a calendar...

Recommended Posts

davebaileymail

I am trying to embed a calendar from the following web page... http://www.forexfactory.com/excal.php If you visit the page above, it shows the code for the calendar, and how it is supposed to look once the html is placed on my site, but my site instead doesn't show the full calendar when I paste the full code from the code generator. See below example... http://www.forexprofitjournal.com/forex-news/ Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Thanks in advance!

Did you put the code using the html editor?

FYI, to place the code, I went to "Edit Page", then pasted the full code in the HTML tab.

Should I have posted it somewhere in "Appearance" > "Editor"?

But it seems that you went on the "Visual" tab after that. Because I tried to recreate the problem and when I paste the code under the HTML tab, everything works fine. When I paste it under the Visual tab, of course it doesn't show. But when I paste under the HTML tab, then go to Visual, and then update the page, the page shows the exact problem you have. So you need to paste the code under the HTML tab and then update the page. If you use the HTML editor and then the Visual one, everything is messed up. So when you use either tab, stick to it.

Yeah Alargeau, is correct. I have just added the code to a test page and the calendar displayed as it should. You will need to add the code to the HTML editor and then save the post/page.

I hate to spoil the fun, but be careful. That code uses old fashioned table settings that do not work well in all browsers in Wordpress. The changes needed are minor, but you need to adjust things like cellpadding and cellspacing, borders, etc. to CSS style tags. I usually do this within the table itself rather than in CSS Rules because it will apply only to this table, unless you wish to add a class or div. There's a great resource here http://www.w3schools.com/css/css_table.asp that will give you access to all the correct coding. View the source at my site's front page http://www.epicurus.com to see how I've applied CSS to tables. Also, check http://coding.smashingmagazine.com/2008/08/13/top-10-css-table-designs/ because tables, even in WP will allow you to do some astounding and surprising things like changing the background of a row on hover or click. Check the site in different browsers as best you can to see if there are differences in how your table displays in its present form.
