Author and Editor Access Problem

Recommended Posts

trizerticus

I need to know if there is a way or a plugin that will disable the ability for an author/editor to add or even see the "Feature" "Boxes" or "Banner" Post fields when they login. The only person that I want to have access to add anything to these areas is the administrator(s) and yet when logged in as an author or editor you can add posts to these areas. Your assistance would be appreciated.

I Tested the plugin and it does hide the Menu Items, but it also Hides them from the Administrator. This is not what I am looking for I need something that will manage the profiles i.e administrator, editor, author and allow me to choose which options they have access to.

Here is what I found that works for me I used this plugin Advanced Access Manager http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/advanced-access-manager/ and I also had to use Admin Bar Removal: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-admin-bar-removal/ The problem arises when an author logs in they also have access to the "Features" "Boxes" and "Banners" to view, edit, or delete any one of these. I definately do not want to come to my site and realize that a malicious author just deleted all my features or boxes.

Hi, I understand where you're coming from, to login on day and find that someone has changed or even worse deleted your features or boxes would be very annoying. Although I have ever used the plugin on a live site, I have installed it and give it a quick once over, it could be the answer to your proble, so read the following article and the link to the plugin is below that. http://justintadlock.com/archives/2010/07/10/meta-capabilities-for-custom-post-types http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/members/ Hope this helps.
