Post image as featured image by default?

Recommended Posts

Hello I'm using Platform Pro in a multi-authored blog -- www.digitopoly.org. My authors would like to insert an image in a post (not always using the Wordpress dashboard) but some other means like Windows Live Writer or from an iPad. Is it possible to modify the code somewhere so that an inserted image also becomes the featured image by default. Basically, I want to avoid them having to use the dashboard to separately set a featured image. Thanks Joshua

Joshua, it is possible via a plugin... HOWEVER... and it's a BIG HOWEVER.... you'll have to set some strict rules about image sizes. The Featured Image does not crop. It resizes. So rectangular images get compressed into a square shape. They look "squished". Make sure your authors ONLY add square images. If they add rectangular, round or other odd shape images, you'll have to edit them manually. The plugin I mentioned is called "Auto Featured Image" and it's available via http://www.wordpress.org/extend/plugins
