Problem with buddypress upgrade

I just installed an upgrade to buddypress and the bp-template-pack. After installation, I was not able to get back to the wp-admin page. All I got was a blank page. I had to remove both plugins from the plugins directory to get the admin page back. I'd really like to use buddypress for a new site I'm working on, but this seems a little "iffy." Help?

The upgrade requires considerable "tweaking". Please see this http://www.pagelines.com/forum/discussion/13966/buddypress-bbpress-and-platformpro-solutions#Item_1 You'll get a blank page trying to look at "Settings" while logged in even after you tweak it. Rest assured this is a Buddypress issue and crosses a wide number of platforms and themes. Not to worry. We'll get you through it.
