Custom Post Type Template Issues

How might I go about setting up a new template for my custom post type "single" & "archive" pages within platform pro? I understand how to overwrite a template but not how to create a new post type template. Basically the reason I need to do this is because my "classifieds" post type has a totally different meta setup so I'd rather not mess up the template for the default "template.postloop.php" and "single.php" files. So I set up archive-classifieds.php and single-classifieds.php as copies of the original template.postloop.php and single.php files in the platform pro theme. Here is my result: Archive: http://gator1588.hostgator.com/~ty/classifieds/ Single: http://gator1588.hostgator.com/~ty/classifieds/item-2-15000/ Original Blog (Above pages should resemble this): http://gator1588.hostgator.com/~ty/blog As you can see I've got them as their own independent pages but there is no style, nav or background content. Any help resolving this issue would be much appreciated. By the way, I'm loving using this new theme setup! Great work! Just learning all the ins and outs. ??”Ty me@tyrichards.com

Hi Ty, Try renaming your template to these: template.archive-CustomPostTypeNameHere.php template.single-CustomPostTypeNameHere.php Simply replace the CustomPostTypeNameHere with your custom post types name. If that doesnt work, reply and i'll try an look further into it for you.
