How can I use a full width image for footer?

Hi All, I would like to use an image as the footer, much like http://www.gnome.org, through a child theme. Has anyone successfully done this? Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks! John

Are you good with CSS? You will have to set your site to a full-width framework and then add the background image to the #footer element.

Thanks! I ended up creating a custom section in a baseline theme and included footer in the workswith array, set a div tag and created a css class to add the background image. The image is now sitting at the top of the footer and since its all the same color it looks continuous. I could also remove it later without going back to code.
