You should check the settings in Dashboard > PlatformPro > Design Control. You may also have to use some custom CSS.

I would use #000000 on the page background and upload a white background image for the background

I'm also trying to solve a similar problem... I don't know how to write code... can anyone tell me what to write to change the color on the nav bar? And can I do it through the custom css box on the platform pro admin page or do I have to install the base/child theme? Thanks for your help.

You can try adding this to your custom CSS:
.sf-menu li {background-color: #000000;}
Change the #000000 to whatever color you want (don't forget the #). And we always recommend using PlatformBase so you don't accidentally mess up the core files. PlatformBase is simple to activate. Just export your PlatformPro theme settings as well as any custom files/CSS files you have made so you don't lose them.

Please try this instead:
ul#menu-main li#menu-item {background-color: #FF9933;}
Please read the docs before posting. Please do not private message me unless I ask you to.
