Nextgen Gallery, Platformpro carousel, link thumbnail images to posts

Hi there! I want to link the thumbnail images in my platformpro carousel to posts (not pages, that's not possible as far I've read). http://www.canning.com/ I want to use the NEXTGEN Gallery to supply the pictures to the carousel, because I like the way NEXTGEN Gallery zooms in on the images when creating thumbnails. Now, I have tried to use the custom fields plugin and followed the wonderful instructions on this page: http://www.kimwoodbridge.com/how-to-link-nextgen-gallery-images-to-an-individual-page-or-post-in-wordpress/ but it doesn't make a difference. What should I do? Any help much appreciated. Dom in London.

It's possible to link carousel thumbnails to posts that are part of a specific category. Do you want to do that or link to all posts regardless of the category?
