lmatanich 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2011 I would like to have a page dedicated to my links instead of putting them in the sidebar of my blog. What's the best way of going about this? (I'd like to have them centered on the page) Thanks.
catrina 103 Report post Posted September 2, 2011 The easiest way is to create a regular page and add the links to it, but the question is, what links do you want to add? The links to other pages within your site? Please read the docs before posting. Please do not private message me unless I ask you to. lmatanich 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2011 Catrina - these are all external links and I was hoping somehow to to this with the link widget.
catrina 103 Report post Posted September 2, 2011 Ah, so do you have the links set up in the Links section (shown here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Links_Screen)? Please read the docs before posting. lmatanich 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2011 Yes, and right now the "Links" widget is in the Primary Sidebar. Here is my blog, currently: http://redbarnstudios.net/?page_id=57 I think all the links crowd the space, so that's why I was hoping to create a separate page for them. Rob 547 Report post Posted September 2, 2011 Have you looked at this plugin? http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/link-library/ I'd suggest you either use a plugin to manage the links or, as Catrina wisely hinted, create a page to your external links then put up only one link on your primary sidebar to access that page. It would be the easiest way you could do it. Former PageLines Moderator, Food Expert and Raconteur
lmatanich 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2011 Thanks for your intput, rangelone and catrina. I was kind of hoping for a different solution. I tried making the links page a "banner page" and adding "links" widget to a universal sidebar (this method does not cause a conflict w/ my site). Looks good, except it's not centered. Any other suggestions?
Rob 547 Report post Posted September 2, 2011 There are plenty of other plugins, and you could use a full width sidebar near the bottom of the page. You could also create three separate blogrolls, dividing up your list into them. Part of your problem seems to be that you have many categories under your blogroll, with links in each. When you add the blogroll to your sidebar, it's picking up everything. By breaking the total number of categories and links into three blogrolls, you could put one blogroll into each one of a morefoot section, a box, or a section of the main page that divided up with divs. Centering it as you suggest is possible. Where exactly is it? Former PageLines Moderator, Food Expert and Raconteur
