Help coaching an active old-school css-site that I am redesigning in WP

Recommended Posts

A. I have installed WP & PlatformPro and set some design features. I have not used the Sidebars in the Layout and I need someone to help me rebuild my leftvertical-navigation bar in the left Sidebar. I also need to change both sidebars' colors, but I can't decipher my old settings. B. website in progress is wccaucus.org, an alias for www.wccaucus.org until I go live in WP. For some reason, when I want to see the changes I have made in WP, however, my old site is displayed in the previews. How can I get around this?

There are plugins to help you edit live with WP and keep your old site up and running. Off hand I can't think of one, but I've seen them before. They do work.

I'm sorry I cannot research the plugin--I'm not the expert! It's like walking into a hardware store and saying what you want to do, but they tell you they can't think of it and it's around here somewhere!

It is discouraging not to be able to see the changes to one's work you're making as you're doing it.

You could install it in wccaucus.org/newsite or whatever, and then its a pretty simple procedure to move it to the root when the site is done.

i'm sorry kastelic. I had meant to reject that answer rather than accept it. It is already at the alias wccaucus.org, which is an alias for www.wccaucus.org. These are the directions my service provider offered me. But as I am rebuilding it within WordPress, I cannot see any revisions, instead it reverts to my old site. I wish you developers would understand what we newbies do not understand. You often act like it is simple and obvious. If I taught Latin that way, I would have no students. You must understand what is not obvious to your audience. Otherwise, I will be writing Pagelines for a refund. Simple.

Please, Mr Kastelic. It's already installed and I want to work from where it is now. My service provider explained where to install it. It is there. If it is such a simple procedure, then I would not be asking. Please provide the step-by-step. If not, I'm sorry, but my patience is at an end and I'll write PageLines for a refund. This does not qualify as actual help; it only makes you look like you know everything and have taught no thing.
