best_2600 0 Report post Posted August 30, 2011 It appears that an auto scroll option is not available for the carousel in Platform Pro. I was assuming that their would be. Is there a work around for this or an additional plugin that needs to be installed for an auto scroll feature to work within the existing carousel provided? kastelic 6 Report post Posted August 30, 2011 Not sure how to modify it, you may need to download a different carousel plugin.
best_2600 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2011 Do you know if there is a way to add a page link to an image in the carousel?
catrina 103 Report post Posted August 31, 2011 Is this a link to a single post page or just a regular page? Please read the docs before posting. Please do not private message me unless I ask you to. urbanimatic 1 Report post Posted August 31, 2011 Hi everyone, Carousel supports auto scrolling for sure since it's based on jCarousel by Jan Sorgalla. You can do this by changing a single number in the .js file. The only issue is that i couldn't find a way to modify the original carousel section using child theme so when you update Platform Pro framework the .js file might be restored to it's original state and you'll have to edit it again. Below is a video where i show you which number to change(this number is actually the time between auto scrolling(in seconds). Make sure to backup carousel.jcarousel.js before editing in case anything goes wrong. If anyone knows how to customize this using the child theme please let me know. Here you can find a list of options to control the appearance and behaviour of the carousel : http://sorgalla.com/projects/jcarousel/#Configuration (the one we are changing to enable auto-scrolling is "auto" And here is the video: http://vimeo.com/28411211 :)
best_2600 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2011 Steliodj, editing the jcarousel.js worked great. Thank you!! Catrina, I was trying to find a way to get each picture in my carousel to link to a different URL. It will be a default page in platform pro.
urbanimatic 1 Report post Posted September 1, 2011 Hi best_2600 that's great thanks for letting me know. Now...the easiest way to make your carousel's posts redirect to a page is to use a plugin called Redirect by Custom Field Plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/redirect-by-custom-field/ 1) Install the plugin (Redirect by Custom Field Plugin - http://skit.ch/bac1 ) 2) When editing your post check "Custom Fields" under "Screen Options" ( http://skit.ch/back ) 3) Now scroll under your post editor and find "Custom Fields" ( http://skit.ch/bacp ) 4) Click "Enter New" link, write "redirect" in the "Name" field and the url/link to your page in "Value" field and click "Add Custom Field" button ( http://skit.ch/bacq ) That should do the trick....go back to your website -> reload and click the post's thumbnail (the one you edited). Now you will be able to find redirect custom field under the drop down menu, so you just need to enter the URLs to the other carousel's posts also whenever you need to. ( http://skit.ch/bacw ) Let me know if it works. P.S. It should also work if you need to redirect pages to other pages or to other posts or even to external URLs (outside of your wordpress site) -Stelios
best_2600 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2011 Selios, Inside my carousel I am using nextgen gallery images. I have about 40 images in the carousel and I would like each image when clicked, to redirect to a different url. Will this plugin work for this? Tim.
urbanimatic 1 Report post Posted September 9, 2011 Hi Tim, I'm not sure how NextGen works but you can try it...if not you can always use posts thumbnails instead of nextgen.
