"The Latest" Footer Code Snippet?

Hey, I asked about this on another thread but didn't get a reply. I'm looking for the code to put "The Latest" in the 5-Column footer. It's an excerpt from the most recent blog post. It's also seen on the bottom of the PageLines forum. Can someone post the code for this? Thanks!

I don't think it's a code that you can add, but it should be a default widget that shows up in the 5-column footer. Can you post a link to your site so I can see what the footer looks like now?

Hi Catrina, It is a default widget but if you edit any of the 5 columns, it removes the default from ALL of the 5 columns. My site is www.philipmurphy.com I know that others have received the code via email (I believe to add to functions.php). Any ideas?

I'll have to find it. I want to put the code in the footer but if I customize the footer at all, I lose that code.

Why don't you just re-add all 5 widgets, including the recent post, to the 5-column footer? Then you will have more customization and control over what appears there.
