Hello, I would like to insert a flash banner, see the code below that I was using on my former blog. Where do I have to insert this code on PlatformPro ? Thanks

That will depend totally on where you want it on your page. If you wanted it, for example, in the header, you'd need a hook. If it's to appear below the header, you might use a full width sidebar with a text widget. You could use that too if it's to be above or in the footer area (depending on your layout). A hook could also be used to put it into the footer. Can you provide a link and more information about where you want it?

Thanks for your answer. I want it in the header (this will be my main banner). What is a hook, and how does it work ? Here is the link to my website, I need to change the top image (in the header) by the flash object mentioned in my initial post : http://thibinspore.com/blog Thanks

Start in the Docs http://www.pagelines.com/docs/base-child-theme - this will teach you about hooks and how to apply your code.

Gosh, that looks very complicated... and the explanations on that page are way too light for me. Video is not helpful either. Can someone help me further ? And tell me what code I have to insert ? (i'm surprised that this sort of things - customizing the header - is not made easier on such a premium template ?)

If you feel you can't paste the flash code properly into your functions.php in the PlatformBase, perhaps it's best if you consider engaging one of our Pros to help you. This may seem complex - and did to me as well at first - but it's actually quite simple. The code you request for the function CSS is below. First, find this line: // add_action('hook_name','function name'); Below that, replace the entire section between // --->uncomment to load and the next //end function // ---> uncomment to load add_action('pagelines_inside_top_branding', 'flash_flashheader'); // function name function flash_flashheader(){ // This hook adds a stumbleupon icon to the header of your theme. The class referenced in the link can be seen in the style.css // and is the image from the CSS is placed in the images folder ?>

Had the same issue. Here's what I did: What I ended up doing is inserting the swf file in a feature set entitled "flash". ( there is a place in the feature section where you can add html code, which would be your flash embed code). I then placed the Pageline Feature above the nav-bar in the template design. I then placed the "full-width" widget beneath the nav-bar....and wha-la! Header with a Flash Header, plus a slider. http://dev3.store-direct.com is where I'm developing this.

Question...looked at your site and noticed that your Flash Banner is a slide show. You can achieve the same affect by using the "Feature" sections in Pagelines. Plus, since it is not Flash driven, it will show up on all Apple products...iphone, ipad.

I'm using Firefox and seeing two photo images, stacked one on top of the other, with the top one sliding. The top one is your Flash, so you did manage to get that in there. Could the other be the slider appearing because it's still in one of the templates? As for the border, try this in your Custom Code > Custom CSS: .main_nav {margin: 0 auto;}

Hi rangelone, thank you for your help. I removed the bottom banner (fixed image), so now I only have the flash banner, that I inserted via a "flash" feature that you indicated. It works, but I have 2 issues : - please see my website (http://thibinspore.com/blog), how do I remove the area below the flash banner that indicates the website title and description ? I tried to hide it with CSS, but i still get a blank space in this case. - I still have this grey line below my banner... I tried your css but it does not make it disappear. Any idea ? Eventually, I may try to use a "feature", but I have not figured out how it works so far... went into the video tutorial, but it misses the "how to start from scratch"... I will create a separate thread on this.

I looked in depth at your site, more than I ever have my own and found what I believe is your problem. At some point you had BuddyPress installed on your site. I can identify Custom Code that was added to your dynamic.css and remains there specific for BuddyPress. I believe that code and some that may be elsewhere is causing that black strip. The reason no one has found it in numerous reviews of your site by myself an others is that it's broken code. Buddypress by default will add a semi-transparent full width black bar across the top of your site. It normally puts either viewer or admin links there for ease of global navigation separate from the site's navigation. - this is the viewer bar, with a green tint because the black is overlaying the green background of my site's header. Check the height of that bar and it's placement and compare it to your site. - here's the same bar in the Admin mode showing up in grey (black over white = grey). The reason you don't see any of the navigation in your black bar is that BuddyPress is either deactivated or deleted. Unfortunately, much of what BuddyPress and bbPress add tables to your database. In truth, you need to strip your database clean of anything you have removed. You'd do this in phpMyAdmin. If you're not proficient in database management, I'm going to suggest you consider one of our pros - http://www.pagelines.com/pros for more info. Alternatively, you may need to just replicate the design with a totally new, clean installation with a new database. I realize that's an absolutely drastic step, but there's so much conflicting custom code and plugin remnants in your site that I suspect you'll always have conflicts or problems moving forward. Doubtlessly, that's something you don't want. Hi rangelone, first, a big thank you to look at my case. I have never used or installed Buddypress... I actually never heard about it before. I looked at your links, and then had a look in my database, and could not find anything related to buddypress (wp_bp)... Can't I remove this black area with css ?

You can try one of the following (not both at the same time):
body.home { background-color: #FFFFFF; }

} body, body.fixed_width { background-color: #FFFFFF; }
Keep in mind that what you're changing is the body background color which is set up PlatformPro -> Design Control. Changing this color will also change your footer color. If the resulting same-colored footer is not what you want, you can try changing the Site Design Mode located in the same area to something else.
