According to WordPress documentation: WordPress address (URL) Enter the full URL of the directory containing your WordPress core application files (e.g., wp-config.php, wp-admin, wp-content, and wp-includes). For example, if you installed WordPress into a directory called "blog", then the WordPress address would be http://example.net/blog (where example.net is your domain). If you installed WordPress into your web root, this address will be the root URL http://example.net. WordPress will trim a slash (/) from the end. If you defined the WP_SITEURL constant in your wp-config.php file, that value will appear in this field and you will not be able to make changes to it from the WordPress administration screen. Site address (URL) Enter the address you want people to type in their browser to reach your WordPress site. This is the directory where WordPress's main index.php file is installed. The Site address (URL) is identical to the WordPress address (URL) (above) unless you are giving WordPress its own directory. WordPress will trim a slash (/) from the end. If you defined the WP_HOME constant in your wp-config.php file, that value will appear in this field and you will not be able to make changes to it from the WordPress administration screen. In your case, you don't want WordPress in its own directory. You want it at www.skip-up.com. How did you install WordPress on your site? I'm assuming you added it to its own directory (i.e. http://skip-up.com/DIRECTORY'>http://skip-up.com/DIRECTORY) instead of installing it into your web root (http://skip-up.com)?

Ahhh, I see, so the WordPress install you made was created in the directory MyEvent. The correct install you needed to make was directly in your web root, not inside a separate directory. You didn't need to create a new directory. When you change the URL settings, it gets confused because your settings don't match the actual directory structure.

Do you have an FTP application of some kind (like Filezilla or Transmit)? Do you have your theme backed up? Did you make a lot of changes with your theme? Since you can't access your wp-admin page at all and can't change the site URL settings, you'll need to re-install WordPress in your web root directory (not a separate directory).

Since you don't have a backup, it's better to just change the site URL via another route (since you can't log into the wp-admin) and so you don't end up having to start over again with your theme. Please refer to this documentation: http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL#Changing_the_Site_URL (you can use one of any of the approaches listed) When dealing with site URL changes in the future, make sure those changes directly reflect the actual directory structure. The directory structure doesn't sway to the changes made in the URL settings.
