ernest8888 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2011 should I use the bbpress plug-in or the stand alone version of bbpress
Jenny 33 Report post Posted August 14, 2011 If you purchase the developer version of PlatformPro, it does come with a matching theme bbPress addon. If you've already purchased PlatformPro but don't have developer, you have the option to add it in your PageLines account (http://www.pagelines.com/launchpad/member.php?tab=add_renew). ♥ Jenny :: Web designer at Simple Mama (follow me at @simplemamacom) Check out Share Me, a social sharing add-on for DMS that is super simple to set up. ernest8888 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2011 Thank you I do understand but that is not quite the answer to my question. On the Pro welcome it tells me what plugins I should download and install. One of them is bbPress stand alone version. There is a bbPress plugin now available. Both are free
Jenny 33 Report post Posted August 14, 2011 Keep in mind that you don't have to download the plugins on the PlatformPro welcome page; they are only suggestions. It is possible that when the welcome page was written, a plugin wasn't available. However, keep in mind that your bbPress forum will look different than your PlatformPro blog (hence the developer version upgrade) so you'll need to do a bit of CSS tweaking. I hope I answered your question this time. ♥ Jenny :: Web designer at Simple Mama (follow me at @simplemamacom) Check out Share Me, a social sharing add-on for DMS that is super simple to set up. ernest8888 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2011 Sorry because I am very new at this I must ask. If buddy press and bbpress is integrated into platformpro then I do not have to install these plugins Why I ask when I install my pfp and base themes I see a forum page that says bbpress add on and no template for a forum. and I see no profile page or any social network pages. Which makes me to believe I must install buddypress and the same with bbpress. This why I ask has any used the bbpress plugin? and I am not sure what the pfp bbpress add-on is and what it does. bradharris79 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2011 you have to install buddypress too, follow it up with the "BuddyPress Template Pack" and it should look like your platform pro theme.
Jenny 33 Report post Posted August 15, 2011 Brad is correct. Even though PlatformPro is built to work with Buddypress and bbPress, the installation files are not included because not everyone will want them on their blog. So to use Buddypress and bbPress, you will need to install 1) the Buddypress plugin; 2) the Buddypress template pack (follow the directions); 3) the bbPress plugin. Also, you don't have to use both Buddypress and bbPress (meaning one is not required for the other to work). If you only want bbPress, then install that one (and vice versa). I hope that helps! ♥ Jenny :: Web designer at Simple Mama (follow me at @simplemamacom) Check out Share Me, a social sharing add-on for DMS that is super simple to set up.
