How can I make the .scolumn-pad align with the .fpost element?

I want to always make sure the top of the elements align, but the .post-nav bar moves the .fpost element down messing up the alignment. I would like to actually have the .post-nav be the full width of the site (which I have done), but it ends up covering the top of the side menu. It worked when I was using the carousel, but I have since removed it and I cannot find a solution... Here is the site: http://www.compartmentlife.com

I think that means you want the right sidebar to move down so that the post-nav bar's width can be increased to fit the width of the page. Is that correct?

Yes, but I want it to move down in conjunction with the .fpost or else they would not line up on the homepage...

You could try:

	#postnav{
	position:absolute;
	top: 266px;
	}

	.single #dynamic-content { margin-top: 50px; }
