Moving from subdomain.domain.ext to domain.ext

Recommended Posts

As my site is done for now, I am planning to move it from it present location blog.peon.dk to peon.dk I have tried to do the import/export thing, but that didn't work... Might be an issue related to the fact that all my content is based on the platformpro theme ( boxes, banners etc.. ) Does anyone have a link to an "easy" guide on how to do that ?

Which import/export did you try? The default WP option? There is an option in PlatformPro to export your settings. I would recommend doing a DB transfer (if necessary... you may just be able to point to the same DB in your wp-config.php file), then re-importing your PlatformPro export file into your new installation.

Hi Kate Thanks a bunch for all your help ! first of all, I am not trained in any of these matters, so please bare with me ... I have managed to download the entire files from the blog.peon.dk/html folder, and upload it to the peon.dk/html folder ... So now, I need to point the wp-config.php file to the same database ? since the files are a exact copy, whouldn't this already be pointing by default ? omg.. I find this so difficult to understand... could you give me a step-by-step list ?

I am having the same issue when exporting and importing from a dev site to a live right now. I went in to the Platform Pro configuration page and clicked export settings. It generated a .dat file that is 10Kb. I then went to the live domain and went to import that file. When I import it, it goes to a blank page and does nothing. I have tried to import the WordPress data first and then the Platform Pro settings with the same result. I have also tried two different browsers (Chrome and Firefox) and have been unsuccessful. Do you have more detail on the DB migration? Is that really necessary if all I want is to move the Platform Pro settings?
