Theme Function (functions.php) error

Recommended Posts

Susan

Everything was fine. Then I stupidly put in code to add Google plus one here. Nothing on any page of my site shows now with the exception of this error: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' in /home2/katzingc/public_html/wp-content/themes/platformbase/functions.php on line 104 The code I added was: I added the code to the end of all the code written out at Platform Base: Theme Functions (functions.php) I obviously did the wrong thing and am not code savvy. This was my mistake I deleted the code I added and clicked "Update File." But that did not work. I am not looking to correct this so I can add Google Plus anymore -- I am just trying to get my site back up. Please help. Because right now I can't do a thing.

The best solution would be to grab an original copy of the functions.php file and re-upload it. You can download platformbase again from your LaunchPad account and upload the functions.php file to your site using an FTP program. Once it's uploaded, the site should go back to normal.

Hi Catrina -- I just did this via Dreamweaver and it did not work -- was I suppose to put dependent files because I did not do that?

What did you in Dreamweaver to try to upload the functions.php file to your site?

I downloaded the childbase -- extracted the functions.php file to the root folder I designated in Dreamweaver for for the site and "put" it. I did not click the option to put independent files. The functions.php file shows in my remote view on Dreamweaver in the platformbase folder

Dreamweaver is not a proper FTP client, use filezilla or transmit.

Filezilla is here: http://filezilla-project.org/ Transmit is available here: http://www.panic.com/transmit/ Download and install either of these programs and log into your site (the FTP log-in info should be available in the home page of your domain hosting account). Once you're logged in, you can upload the new functions.php file to the platformbase folder.

not sure what you mean by "original." I overwrote the existing functions.php file in the remote folder.

This original file is different from the one you currently have. If you download the theme from your LaunchPad account (http://www.pagelines.com/launchpad/member.php) again and copy the functions.php file in the platformbase folder from there, you can overwrite your current functions.php file using FTP with that new, unedited one.

Well I thought I did this correctly twice, but perhaps not. When I extract the function.php file to my local folder -- I see there is a platform base folder and then when you click on it, it shows a folder for "notes," and another "platform Base" folder. I tried extracting it to both the top level platform base folder and the sub platformbase folder and then uploading it in Filezilla, simply by dragging the functions.php file over to the remote side. What am I not doing correctly?

There is no 'notes' folder. Can you give us a screenshot?
