Slider to content area on homepage

OK Say i dont want the feature slider above the width of the whole page , I just want it in my content area. How would i Do this? (I've got a three column blog but want the feature slider only in the content area of the the homepage not right across the top as it only holds relevant posts to that section) (Not experienced coder so simple lingo please)
