How to insert TheLoop on static page?

Does anyone know how I can the standard listing of the latest post entries on "Recent Posts" static page? Isn't that what the "Hide Main Content (The Loop - Required)" page option is supposed to be for? There are apparently some plugins that will give you a "most recent posts" page, but I'd like the Platform formatting/rules. I've spent hours trying to figure this out and I'm plumb out of ideas. Thanks in advance!

I've been looking at this way too long. There is an option in the General Wordpress options to set any static page as the "posts" page. *hangs head*
