Using an html table in the Content area

Recommended Posts

Hi--I'm working on a layout for the content area that uses an HTML table. The PlatformPro layout is a two column layout with the sidebar on the left, leaving the right content area 760px wide. I placed an HTML table in the page content with a 760px wide image on top and two columns beneath (the page link is https://sbtrails.org/become-a-member/). In visual editing mode the content looks like it should, with the left column text aligned below the image, like it should. However, when I view the page the left column text is shifted down quite a bit. I've tried every different way I can to set the alignment of the text (valign="top") so it will display correctly but haven't had any luck. Is the issue using tables inside the content area of a page?

WordPress doesn't play well with tables. There is a WP plugin "WP-Table Reloaded" which can help with the table issues you are talking about.

Thanks for the help--"WP-Table-Reloaded" does the trick though would be nice not to have to use an interpreter/go-between to make the tables work. One nice thing about this plugin is that it allows you to create a copy of one of the tables you create in the plug-in once you've got the code the way you like it. The key drawback is that you have no access to the HTML/Visual layouts to edit from. Need to go into the plugin to make changes but that's a small drawback.
