How to improve site loading speed

What plugin do you recommend to speed up the site loading site if any ? I was trying to compress with apache mod_deflate but unfortunately my hosting didnot support that. Any idea? cheers, joie

wow i am impressed. http://pross.org.uk/category/themes-3/ 91 out of 100 using page speed 2 second load time from pingdom Did you enable compression at your wordpress via .htaccess and apache mod_deflate /gzip ? Or will the plugin be sufficient ? cheers, regards, joie

There is nothing special in my htaccess, the super-cache adds some stuff there to load the cached pages thats all. I dont see the need to add cache headers, as maxcdn adds them for me to the images.

some questions : are you hosting on virtual private servers ? what hosting are u using ?
