gallery of thumbnails -> Vimeo iFrame. Best method?

Recommended Posts

Hi! I'm trying to build a page for navigating a small video library (the videos are hosted on Vimeo, and embedded via an iFrame). I would like to present the navigation as a page of thumbnails with captions, and when a user clicks on a thumbnail, the iFrame link will open right there in a shadowbox/lightbox/FancyBox/whatever (I'm open to possibilities). Currently I don't see a way to do this with a box/soapbox, because you can't add your own html. Am I missing something?

you can totally add your own html to boxes... My recommendation would be to add some HTML and shortcodes and use one of the several 'lightbox' plugins they have available for WP.

Ok, so there is no way (that I can figure out) under the current PlatformPro architecture for boxes and soapboxes to spawn a lightbox for a Vimeo player. Adding the shortcode in the composition window just spits the text back at you. Adding the usable portion of the iFrame code (i.e. just the URL) to the allowable 'clickable link' feature does successfully call the video, but it opens full screen as a new page. No lightbox, no ability to define parameters like size. You have to hit the back button to get out of it. To be clear - the shortcode and the iframe code work fine in a normal blog post scenario, but not in the special post types. My goal of a captioned thumbnail gallery (that opens offsite videos in a lightbox) can't be done with Platform Pro boxes as far as I can tell. Please make me feel foolish and point out what I'm missing!

I think there is a Lightbox type plugin for Vimeo, but I don't think it's called Lightbox. See here for the plugins: http://franklinbishop.net/6-lightbox-plugins-for-wordpress/. I believe it is called Floatbox.

I have a similar problem. I would like to present some Galleries (managed with NextGEN Gallery) from a link inside a soapbox. I already set up NextGEN Gallery custom effect with a jQuery LightBox Plug-in (Lightbox Evolution for WordPress). At this point I'm LOST [-O< ... I don??™t know how to show, into the soapbox, a working link to my gallery. Do I have to use the shortcode [ gallery id=xxx ]? If yes: where I have to insert it? Thanks for your support.

What do you mean by working link to the gallery in a soapbox? Do you mean the gallery thumbnails themselves or a link to the gallery thumbnails showing up inside a Lightbox?
