Different Brands

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys, I need to find out from you which is the best way to approach this. I have a Holding company site with a few different brands that need their their own page. Now obviously the "main site" has its own look. but the different "Brand sites" need their own distinct look. How will I go about something like this? Please help. Kind Regards

Hi Kevin, If you want a completely different layout, etc., then custom templates would be the way to go. However if you just want to change colors, etc., then you can probably accomplish that with CSS. Each page has it's own unique ID generated (as a class in the body tag). You can use that to target your styles to the page(s) you want.

Thanks Kate, will I be able to have 3 Custom templates with 1 installation of Platform pro? How would I call the unique page IDs to change say the background image for instance.. Thanks

You should be able to have multiple custom templates within 1 installation. The unique page IDs can be found by using Firebug. If you don't have it already, it's available here for free: http://getfirebug.com/ Once they're detected, they can be incorporated into CSS for custom backgrounds.

Hi Catrina, thanks for the help, seems as though im slowly starting to figure this out: The Background image now works!! .canvas #page-id-84, .full_width #page, body.fixed_width { background-image: url("http://servername/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/wall_224.jpg"); } But still struggling with the page background color? Must be something wrong with my naming convention? see below: body #page-id-84{background: url("http://servername/rudybg1.png") repeat scroll 0 0 transparent; }

mmm, I see all my pages now have the background :( This should be the universal background: .canvas #page-main, .full_width #page, body.fixed_width { background-image: url("http://sportdev.asgsolutions.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/wall_224.jpg"); } This should be the page specific: .canvas #page-id-84, .full_width #page, body.fixed_width { background-image: url("http://www.asgsport.co.za/back.jpg"); }
