Fatal Plug-In Deactivation Error -- Site Down, Please Help!

Recommended Posts

suzannesteinert

via a previous thread being addressed by Kate: Was having some incompatibility issues with the feature slides on my WP site not working properly. To try to rectify the situation, I started deactivating AND deleting extraneous plug-ins a few moments ago, probably deleting some I shouldn't have. Anyway, after deleting the wp-cache plugin (I believe that's what it was called), I lost access to the entire back and front ends of my site. The url for both the log-in/admin page AND .com front end now lead to blank screens. Please help! Eek! exploredifferently.com

Was the plugin "WP Super Cache"? I'm having a lot of problems with this plugin myself right now as it's requiring me to modify my URL structure which is resulting in 404 errors for both my pages and tags (thread). I remember reading in the WP Super Cache documentation that the plugin must be uninstalled in a particular way or there is a risk of crashing the site so that may be a good starting point, sorry I can't help more but I'll keep an eye on this thread because I get the feeling the same may be about to happen to me if I'm not very careful. (Not a mod)

Simon

Rename your plugins folder, and create a new blank one..in wp-config.php there is a define cache line, set to false.

No, it was just the standard wp-cache plug, as far as I know. Simon -- where do I go to find that? My host's account manager? I can't access my WP admin at all.

Simon -- I LOVE YOU! Thanks a million :) Guess I'll have to deal with that again down the line, but at least my site's running again!
