howto hide/remove search box in platform (free, not pro)

Recommended Posts

Numerous posts on this simply note: Theme Options > Header And Nav. > Hide Search However, this option isn't available in the free, non pro version. This post notes the following can be used yet it's a nasty hack: themes/platform/sections/nav/section.nav.php: /* comment out to remove search box if(!pagelines_option('hidesearch')){ get_search_form(); } */ Can anyone recommend a better way of doing this? Could this be set in the same place as pagelines_option ? Could this be set in a child theme ? http://www.pagelines.com/forum/topic/8753

`add_filter( 'get_search_form', '__return_false' );`

Where does this go? I tried: /platform-child/functions.php /platform/functions.php /plugins/hidesearch.php I'm reading this for the first time... https://codex.wordpress.org/Plugin_API But unsure if that's the right tree to bark.

As I noted in the comment above, placing the code in functions.php does not work. The only working solution is this: section.nav.php:

	/*
	if(!pagelines_option('hidesearch')){ get_search_form(); }
	*/

But this is kludgy for all of us. I would submit a feature request but I don't see a mechanism for doing that here.
