Page vs. Body

Recommended Posts

Please bear with me for I am new to this entire process and I was unable to find an existing solution in the forum. Now, I??™ve recently realized that body color and page color are two different aspects. I??™ve uploaded an image to my home page using this css code: .page-id-1477{background:url(http://acedoubleyou.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/concept4.jpg) I assume the image was uploaded considering the orange outline. However, am I using the correct css? Seems like I should use css for the page and simply make the background color orange. Please advise.

I don't see that line of CSS in your custom code, where have you put it? It is correct though, except you might want to add

no-repeat
if not a repeating image. Normally you will probably want to target
body #page
rather than
body

. But first you want to go to Design Control and select the Site Design Mode that is applicable to what you are trying to do.

Hey Jimmy and thanks for the reply. Here is where I entered the css and the only reference I made (page vs. body) is the page ID in the beginning of the CSS. Can you be more specific with the css?

You forgot the trailing

}

at the end of that rule

Catrina, based on your comment, this is how the css now looks, and it does not work

body #page .page-id-1477{background:url(http://acedoubleyou.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/concept4.jpg)}
. I've included the inital code used in my original question. Could someone please tell me where exactly
body #page

should go in my css and if something should be removed?

Try this one:

body.page-id-1477 #page-canvas {background:url(http://acedoubleyou.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/concept4.jpg)}

Please read the docs before posting. Please do not private message me unless I ask you to.
