jscurr 0 Report post Posted April 2, 2010 Hi, I am having trouble with my blog which i have called "News". I have set the news page up as a Highlight Template - Standard. As soon as i choose this template for my News page, all of my post excerpts disappear. When i change it back to full default layout, then they re-appear. Also, even when i have the posts excerpts showing on the default layout, when you click on the title to take you to the full article, nothing happens. Also, if you try to leave a comment, nothing happens. Finally, i also have a categories widget on the "News" page, if you click on the category to see a list of articles, it takes you to a blank browser page. All of these issues relate to the blog, so i am assuming they are all related issues that i mucked up. Any help would be great. Thanks, James.

jscurr 0 Report post Posted April 2, 2010 I have have found some answers in another forum post, so i have the excerpts showing up on the "News" page properly. Can someon confirm that the page you choose as the blog page can only be used on a default template? I would rather still use the Highlight Standard, but if this is not possible then fine. However i still have the following problems: 1) When you click on the excerpt title, the link does nothing. It does not take you to the full article. 2) On the top rigth of the Blog page is the "Welcome to etc..." When I choose to run the secondary sidebar on this page, it loses the "Welcome to..." area. How can you run the sidebar and still keep the Welcome text? Thanks, James.
cmunns 16 Report post Posted April 2, 2010 Yes, the default template is currently what supports the blog/news page. You can (we can help) rearrange some code to have these appear underneath the highlight page template if you like. Regarding the excerpt title, it is linking to the full post, however, you might be confused because you see the post-excerpt again. You can disable the post-excerpt from showing up on the full post page in the theme options. Regarding the Welcome box you can hardcode into the secondary sidebar, but I recommend just using the "arbitrary text" widget and writing the message how you'd like. jscurr 0 Report post Posted April 2, 2010 Hi Adam, No I solved the blog post problem probably just before you had a look at the site. All i did was change the permalinks settings back to default and the full posts started linking correctly. I would however prefer to use custom permalinks so that url display as the page name. However as soon as i change the permalinks settins back to custom, the blog post links stop working. Do you have any ideas onthis one? Cheers, James.
