avidcruisergmailcom 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2011 I am using several custom feeds to syndicated different versions of my blog. However, I lose the feed whenever I update Platform Pro (last night, for example). Is there a way to avoid losing the feeds (other than remembering to back it up before updating)? Could the custom feeds reside in base for example?
cmunns 16 Report post Posted June 29, 2011 THey should reside in Base yes. How are you adding the feeds?
avidcruisergmailcom 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2011 I use the plugin Feed Wrangler to create custom feeds. Is there a better way? And to my knowledge it will only create feeds in the child theme.
catrina 103 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 I'm not sure if there's a better way but you can try disabling your other plugins one by one to see if any of them are causing a conflict. avidcruisergmailcom 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 Thank you. The plugin works fine. It's just that it expects the feeds to be in the main theme's directory. I would like for the feeds to be in Platform Pro base.
Kate 3 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 Is Base activated under Appearance->Themes? Or will that still not do the trick?
avidcruisergmailcom 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2011 Thanks for your effort Kate. Yes, it's activated. But that's not the issue. Feed Wranger requires that its custom feeds be in the main theme's directory. But with updates, those files get overwritten. I'm trying to find a way to make the feeds function from Platform Base. catrina 103 Report post Posted July 1, 2011 Hm, can you remember to back up those files and re-upload them after making updates? Please read the docs before posting. avidcruisergmailcom 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2011 I can try to remember, but it's not the solution I'm looking for. I'm trying to determine if anyone with programming experience knows if these custom feed files can reside in Platform Base. Much the same principle behind Platform Base's development, I want the feeds to reside there so that I won't overwrite them.
Simon 248 Report post Posted July 1, 2011 Simple fix, open up the plugin php file, replace TEMPLATEPATH with STYLESHEETPATH The plugin will now look in child theme. Then email the author your patch, sit back and feel good about contributing to the wordpress community
avidcruisergmailcom 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2011 Simon, you're a genius. Worked. Thank you! My next issue: ubernav. I can't get it to display on every page despite following your good instructions in another post here in the forum.
Simon 248 Report post Posted July 1, 2011 Is it displaying on some but not all?
avidcruisergmailcom 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2011 I think so. I would need to disengage secondary nav to know for sure. I can do that.
Simon 248 Report post Posted July 1, 2011 Yes disable the other one.
avidcruisergmailcom 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2011 Now Ajax will not allow me to move the Secondary Nav from Template Setup. I can move it out but it reappears. I can't disable it. I want to replace Secondary Nav in the Header with Ubernav
Simon 248 Report post Posted July 1, 2011 it should just slide across to the right side
avidcruisergmailcom 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2011 You can see both Secondary Nav and Ubernav displayed at http://www.avidcruiser.com/ but only Ubernav at http://www.avidcruiser.com/cruise-line-profiles/big-ship/ncl/norwegian-dawn/ If I can move Secondary Nav from the header, I've got it. Simon 248 Report post Posted July 1, 2011 Well one way would be just delete the section file from your main theme folder
avidcruisergmailcom 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2011 I'll try that. Thanks. Are you for hire for programming and design?
