therese_gedda 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2011 Theme: White house pro I have tried entering my google analytics code in the assigned box under "Theme Options/Asynchronous Analytics". If i place the code there it is placed right after the starting <body> tag. This does not seem to work since my backend on google analytics wont show data. After reading up on googles documentation they say that the tracking script should be the last thing entered right before the closing </head> tag. I found a box for this purpose as well, under "Theme Options/Header Scripts". When I enter it there the explanatory text seems incorrect. It says "Scripts inserted directly before the end of the HTML <head> tag" but upon checking the page source I can see that there are a number of includes (css, jquery, etc) happening after my inserted google code. I must admit that I don't know if the google code needs to be the absolutely last thing within the <head> tag. I am also puzzled by this apparent contradiction between google and my shiny wordpress theme. All earlier posts I found regarding this seem outdated (as in covering old google tracking code) or seem to be inconsistent with what I experience tinkering around and moving the script. Help is much appreciated.
catrina 103 Report post Posted June 29, 2011 I think the best solution would be to use the Google Analytics plugin available for WordPress: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-google-analytics/ That way, you don't have to tinker with the code in any files. Please read the docs before posting. Please do not private message me unless I ask you to. Designer | Catrina Dulay Founder | Catrina and Mouse
