Changeing the Default Category

Recommended Posts

eshriner

I want to change the default category my website loads to. Instead of loading to show all categories of blog posts, I would like to have it only show one category, then put a menu tab to the other post. I looked on WP support site and got this strip of code: <?php if (is_front_page()) { query_posts("cat=6"); } ?> The post (http://wordpress.org/support/topic/how-to-make-category-default) instructed me to put the above php statement before <?php if ( have_posts() ) : while ( have_posts() ) : the_post(); ?> in the index.php file of the theme. Where can I do this in Platform Pro? Thoughts?

If you're using PlatformPro, you can use a hook in the functions.php file so that you don't have to paste it directly into any of the files (this is ideal because when you upgrade the theme, your change won't be lost). More on hooks can be found here: http://www.pagelines.com/docs/base-child-theme

Please read the docs before posting. Please do not private message me unless I ask you to.

Catrina, Thank you for the response, now I come with the followup question... Do you know the hook that I would use to set the default category? Thanks!
