Woah. Problems with new Platform Pro 1.5

Recommended Posts

Hi. Hoping you can help. Just upgraded to Platform Pro 1.5 last night and have a few issues: 1) The font sized increased tremendously. For example, see the font on the old template (http://approachguides.com) and new template (http://agwine.com). I would prefer the font to be the same as the old template. 2) ALL tables are centered. Perhaps this isn't the best way to design a webpage, but nevertheless, I did. And now they look terrible. For example, see the page layout with the old template (http://www.approachguides.com/guides/australia/australian-wine-guide/'>http://www.approachguides.com/guides/australia/australian-wine-guide/) and new template (http://www.agwine.com/ebooks/australian-wine-guide/) 3) Given that many of our pages on Approach Guides are built using this table, I had to revert to the old template. NOW the menus have become messed up (very long). For example, use the top nav here: http://www.approachguides.com/ 4) Call Out Section no longer accepts apostrophes. I had to eliminate all apostrophes as they caused additional characters to come in to the text. Any help on any of these issues? Thanks a million.

1) How did you set the font size in your old template? Using custom CSS? If so, you can add the code back in to decrease the size again. 2) Add this code your Custom Code CSS area to left align the text:

td {text-align: left;}

3) If you want, you can disable that sub navigation. 4) I'm not sure about those apostrophes. Are other quotation marks working fine, though?

Hi Catrina, Thanks for your reply (and we can continue here). 1) I didn't set the font size in the old template. I used the standard. It increased in size when I upgraded. 2) The code to the CSS you gave didn't work (see: http://www.agwine.com/ebooks/australian-wine-guide/ )Just to be clear, I entered td {text-align: left;} into the area titled CSS Rules. 3) Thanks, I had missed a setting -- it's working now. One down! 4) No, other quotation marks don't work. You can see the result at the bottom of the example page in #2

Validate all the pages you are having problems with and check all your markup, Its probably an unclosed tag or extra quotation mark in a tag. For example, i found this error when I validated the home page: Line 349, Column 127: Saw " when expecting an attribute name. Probable cause: = missing immediately before. ??¦wine.com/images/homepage/iPhoneBoth-homepage.gif" " width="125"> </div> See the extra quotation mark? That can caus you all kinds of trouble.

Thanks, Jimmy. I checked the page referenced above and the problem still exists: http://www.agwine.com/ebooks/australian-wine-guide/ This issue only arose after I installed the latest update -- the same site (with the same errors) ran the previous template with no problem and no centering of tables. Is there any other fix you can think of?

Since you used tables, you can try assigning a class to the <td> cells. For example, use

<td class="texttable">
and then in the Custom Code area, use this CSS:
td.texttable {text-align: left;}

Thanks, Catrina. That didn't work either. Can't understand why (you can see the source code on the same page). Do you know where in the template the centering of tables is specified so I can go in and change it?

I took a closer look at the source. Try adding this custom CSS:

.hentry table td, #comments table td {text-align: left;}
